I wanted to make a birthday gift for my 2-year-old nephew. He will be spending most of his summer on the water – climbing around on boats, catching fish, making sandcastles, digging holes, collecting shells, and learning lots. There are plenty of great picture books that teach kids about seashore life. Why not illustrate those plants and animals on a comfy quick-dry towel that a child can use at the beach? It’s practical AND educational, and if it gets covered in salt and sand, that’s okay!
Here’s what I came up with →
Now the little guy has a special beach towel to sit on while he eats his peanut butter sandwiches. We gave it a test run in the living room, and he successfully pointed out many of the animals shown. Proud Auntie!
By the way, CafePress did the printing for me, and I was really happy with the quality. You can buy this towel in my new shop, biophilia.
