On February 5, I will teach the first of two workshops about drawing animals at the Emma Treadwell Thacher Nature Center at Thacher State Park, (Voorheesville, NY, just a 30 minute drive south of Albany). This is a beautiful spot, tucked into the woods, with many trails to explore. If you live in the Capital District, Hudson Valley, or Western Massachusetts, this is a perfect day-trip destination!
The workshops will be held indoors. The Nature Center has a variety of animal specimens, including a black bear, fisher, owls, fox, ducks, and more! Using these as models, I will demonstrate drawing techniques and observational approaches, then guide participants in their own drawings. Participants will learn about animal anatomy and how to render form, structure, and function. We’ll be working with pencils on Strathmore drawing paper.
This event is appropriate for ages 16 and up, and all skill levels are welcome. A fee of $25 covers all materials. Space is limited. Please call the Nature Center at 518-872-0800 to register.
